G4S Security Services (UK) today announces that it is one of the

first UK security providers to have passed the Scottish Approved

Contractor Scheme (ACS). The approval extends the accreditation G4S

already holds in England and Wales.

The Security Industry Authority’s Approved Contractor scheme

distinguishes accredited companies as the best suppliers of private

security in the UK. The objective of the scheme is to protect the

public by raising and maintaining standards within the private security

industry, offering confidence to customers when choosing a supplier.

G4S continues to lead the industry, introducing new standards ahead of

the compulsory introduction of licences for security officers in

Scotland which comes into effect in November 2008.

The roll out of the scheme in Scotland introduces the same principles

that already apply to security firms operating in England and Wales.

The accreditation uses a comprehensive audit via focus groups,

customers and employees to examine the company’s commitment to

corporate social responsibility, customer service delivery, performance

and staff development.

The ACS accreditation became effective on 17 September.
